Explore Anguilla

The mini museum: situated on the Arawak Beach Resort at Big Springs, this museum contains a wide variety of artifacts which were found on the site and left there by the Amerindians who used to live in the area.

Wallblake historic houseWallblake Historic House which is situated near the Roman Catholic church, north of the roundabout near the airport. The church is also very unusual and certainly worth a visit.

Crocus Hill Prison: this is the highest point of the island, 213 feet, here you will find the old prison... the place with a view.

Fountain Cavern. The Fountain Cavern is a natural and cultural wonder. An old steel ladder takes you down fifty feet into a cave which contains two fresh water pools and at least a dozen Amerindian petroglyphys or rock carvings. The most significant of these is a sixteen foot stalagmite which has been carved in the shape of “Jocahu”, the supreme God of the Taino Indians (sometimes referred to as the Arawaks, the Tainos were the people Columbus “encountered” on his first voyage to the Caribbean).

Religious faith: the island has over 40 churches representing a dozen beliefs. Tour the island and see how many different faiths you can find, housed in a wonderful mix of architectural style.

The old fort at Sandy Hill, site of the police sub-station overlooking Sandy Hill Bay, towards the eastern end of the island. Here the last stand took place in the 1976 battle when the HMS Lapwing arrived to rescue the island from the invading French.
