Total Area: 165 sq mi/430 sq km Topography: mostly fat, Barbados is a coral island with some rolling hills and deep rifts and gullies. It also has a collection of caves and underground lakes that provide an excellent source of drinking water. Climate: Tropical all year, with cooling northeast trade winds that keep the average temperature between 75°-85°F. September and October see the most rain. Economy: Tourism, agriculture, light manufacturing. Government: Independent member of the Commonwealth. Religions: Anglican, Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Moravian, Seventh Day Adventist, Jehovahs Witnesses. Currency: Barbados dollar (BD)=US $1.98. Traveler's checks and major credit cards are widely accepted. US money is also accepted but it's better to convert it upon arrival. Time Zone: Atlantic Standard (EST + 1 hr).
