Tamarisk Room

Recently chosen by Food & Wine magazine as one of Bermuda's best restaurants, guests and locals take full advantage of Cambridge Beaches Tamarisk Room year-round. The ambiance is sophisticated, the mood romantic, the cuisine superb. Dining is a big event and no one is ever disappointed. Head Chef uses only the freshest ingredients: seafood arrives at the dock by boat, fruits and vegetables are often local, fresh herbs are grown in the Cambridge garden, fresh bread, pastries and homemade ice cream are made daily on the property. A recent culinary enthusiast commented that her meal surpassed that of anything she had eaten in New York's finest! The Tamarisk Room opens onto a lovely outdoor terrace with spectacular views of Mangrove Bay where dining and dancing is a favourite past-time of guests. The dinner menu changes nightly and consists of at least five-courses. There is a wonderful wine cellar offering vintage brands to pair with every course. A sophisticated lunch menu is also offered in The Tamarisk Room inside or out on the terrace... or why not request a picnic basket and take a boat to the Honeymoon Islands? Breakfast is a scrumptious, expansive buffet attended by chefs eager to prepare whatever you desire. Guests of all ages truly enjoy dressing up for dinner in The Tamarisk Room where jackets are required and ties are welcomed. You will see traditional Bermuda attire as well with Bermuda shorts, jacket, collared shirt and long socks. A variety of musical entertainment is offered nightly from April to October.

Breezes

It is that perfect summer day when you just can't leave the beach. The sun is setting before you in glorious array and you want this feeling to last forever... well, now you can stay on and see what the evening holds. The hotel is happy to present Breezes, the waterfront alfresco cafe right on Long Bay Beach. Delicious trendy cuisine and casual dining means a fun, informal option for guests who long to linger by the sand and sea from May through October. In addition to nightly meals which are part of the meal plan option, a special cocktail party is offered on Tuesday nights and Sundays are reserved for dancing on the beach under the moon and stars with an endless ocean glistening before you. Breezes is especially welcome for sunbathers and beachcombers during the day, for those who don't want to go too far for cooling beverages, a snack, or delectable lunch.

ACTIVITIES
Stunning azure ocean and bay waters can be seen from nearly every part of the property with five private beaches and numerous sandy coves that are perfect for sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling and relaxing. Golf can be arranged at every course on the island, plus the Concierge makes it easy to visit Bermuda's many cultural and historic sites.

Water activities

Water activities abound at Cambridge Beaches. The beaches and natural coves that surround the property are optimum for sun-bathing, swimming or snorkelling. The marina offers any type of water equipment or boat for rent including motor and sail boats, kayaks, windsurfers, snorkel gear and fishing equipment. Scuba gear is also available and instruction can be arranged. The peninsula and nearby small islands offer great exploration. Ask the kitchen for a picnic basket. Snorkelers will be amazed at the quality of ocean life so close to Cambridge Beaches' shores. Looking for some extraordinary day and evening water tours, snorkeling and scuba expeditions? Try the exclusive excursions that showcase the best of Bermuda. Please keep in mind that most of these require a minimum number of participants to proceed. A freshwater outdoor pool (40x40) is located at the Main House overlooking Mangrove Bay and an indoor freshwater pool (25x12) with fully retractable sunroof can be enjoyed at the Ocean Spa in the Aquarian Baths solarium. Both pools are heated in the shoulder months. There is also a ‘Swimex’ lap pool and whirlpool in the Ocean Spa as well.

Land activities

Extensive facilities on the property offer many activities for your enjoyment and then there is the island of Bermuda to explore. You can sunbathe and enjoy the views on your private cottage terrace, in a quiet cove or on one of the beaches, laze on one of the hammocks "strategically placed" around the property, play tennis on one of three courts, try your hand at English croquet or practice your putting on the Cambridge green. Rent a bike or moped near the main building to explore the island. Listen to kiskadees and the many other birds that make Bermuda a birder's paradise. They offer a daily itinerary of special excursions and activities which often include walking and bicycle jaunts in the area, and opportunities to horseback ride, sight-see and much more. There are a wealth of historical and cultural sites to see in Bermuda that are easily reachable and enjoyable for all ages. Between April and October, Cambridge Beaches offers a complementary ferry to Hamilton for shopping and sightseeing that leaves right from the dock. The thirty minute ride across the Great Sound is truly beautiful and offers real insight into the Bermudian way of life. In the shoulder months, a ten minute walk along a picturesque country lane will bring you to the public ferry in Somerset. The Cambridge gift shop features a variety of items exclusive to Cambridge Beaches, including sweaters, golf shirts, paintings, postcards, souvenirs, gift items for friends and family back home, and art from local craftsmen.

Golf
Bermuda is a golfer’s paradise and offers excellent golfing weather year-round. Better still, they are a member of every golf course in Bermuda and they would be delighted to make your reservation in advance of arrival. There are currently six 18-hole courses and two 9-hole courses. They have a special arrangement with the private Mid Ocean Club -- the most challenging course in Bermuda. Guests may play Mid Ocean on Monday, Wednesday or Friday, but please note that they are only able to confirm tee times at Mid Ocean 24 hours in advance and payment is made directly to the course at the time of play. The championship Port Royal, second only in ranking to Mid Ocean, is the closest to Cambridge Beaches (only 10 minutes away). There's also a putting green right on their own property and an excellent golf massage at the Ocean Spa.

Excursions
From the private dock outside the main dining room, you can catch a complementary ferry to Hamilton for shopping or sightseeing -- or just to enjoy the 25-minute ride across the Great Sound. In the summer, it departs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:45 am and returns at 12:45 pm. Plus, there are a number of other day and evening excursions -- some complementary -- that they schedule from time to time, especially in the summer. When you arrive at Cambridge Beaches, look at the activities schedule and decide which excursions appeal to you.

Fitness centre

Located in the Ocean Spa on the upper level Aquarian Baths is the Cambridge Beaches fitness centre, open to all guests 16 years of age or older. The equipment includes Life Cycles, treadmills, steppers, two rowing machines and Cybex fixed and free weights. Just outside the centre you'll find a freshwater roman-style pool and solarium with retractable sunroof, a "Swimex" lap pool, and private whirlpool bath. Sauna and steam are located downstairs in The Ocean Spa area and are available for a small charge.

Evening activities
Evening is a magical time at Cambridge Beaches and centres mainly around dining and dancing. In addition to scrumptious cuisine, every dinner setting offers its own special ambiance with an array of musical entertainment -- ranging from individual performers to dance bands -- for listening or dancing. Depending on your mood, you might find yourself in the more formal candlelit Tamarisk Room listening to a classical guitarist, outside on the terrace dancing under the stars to a jazz band, or enjoying limbo at the beachfront Breezes. The pub and lounge offer musical fare six nights a week until the wee hours as well.
