St. Jean airport (SBH) is not large enough for big jets, the airstrip in St. Barths is small, and pilots are required to have special training to land.
The principal gateway to St. Barths is through St. Maarten (SXM). The island is served by Winair, Air Caraïbes (formerly Air Guadeloupe & Air St. Barthelemy) and St-Barth Commuter.
Also, through San Juan, Puerto Rico (Tradewind) and Guadeloupe.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
From July 1st 2005, all the U.S. and Canadian citizens traveling onto the island will have to have a valid passport to enter the territory. WARNING: Only a valid passport will be accepted (driving license for instance will not have any entering value anymore). Others must have a valid passport and possibly a visa. EEC citizens must have a National Identity Card. A return or onward ticket is also required of all visitors.
FERRY SERVICES
- M/V Voyager I & II depart from the waterfront in Marigot (about a 25 minute cab ride from the airport), St. Martin, and from Oyster Pond (Captain Oliver's marina), St. Martin, bound for Gustavia.
